The Queen of Ice

The Queen of Ice

A Poem by Cynthia Fender Clark

Queen Of Ice
Upon the trail of broken hearts, her mind wanders ill,
Destroying souls upon her path, heart with a winter’s chill.
None could tame this frozen soul, none could melt her heart,
Games she played to destroy them all, ripping them all apart.
Many tried her patience, for want her they did not,
Aye only her kingdom and wealth in a land that time forgot.
Soon they loosed her anger, matches of death they wrought,
Human chess pieces, none were like the one she sought.
Where a champion she wished to challenge? Deep down such an ache,
None struck her fancy, none the heart of brave, none her soul to take.
Ever lonely, ever solitary, always the Queen of the winter’s ice,
Tears upon her cheeks, a mournful sigh, come lover, find my paradise.
