The Moon

The staring moon

Comes to

All the people

Who are

Getting

Tired as

The Sun says

Goodbye the

Moon comes

To say hi so

The sky will be

Painted dark blue. The day

Light turns off

And the night

Light turns on

The sun goes to sleep

As the moon 

Looks after us

In the night. 

Now that

We are tired, 

The moon

Blinks us goodnight

Author's Note

In Grade 9 I wrote this shape poem. A shape poem is a poem that describes an object and is written in the shape of the object. In this case in a shape of crescent moon =) ( Exactly like in the picture above)

I've tried shape poems so many times before and it's so hard to get exactly the right words to make the shape. When one looks at the first three lines and last three --and then at the middle lines --you see how this artist accomplished this shape --and "accomplished" is a great discription of this poem considering the first line so nicely describes what the moon always does. Thanks for this!

You have such a nice way of writing. I love poems about the moon and I ws not disappointed in this one. "The moon blinks us goodnight" what a great way to end the poem. Great job on this.
