The Golden Age

As someone who knew pain and misery better than anyone
Yours gave me a flesh wound
As I stepped into your ruins
Where your frozen wrath was hidden

How come you made me feel more human than I already am?
How come you made me feel heaven from the hell around you?

I saw you clear as day in the dark
And you were more alive than I was
I saw your memories, you were like a king in his golden age
And it only brought anguish upon you

You’ve made me feel safer from the storm of souls
You’ve made me feel love from your invisible kiss
And here I am wondering
If the touch of my being has brought the same sweet madness
as you brought upon me
