Chapter 8- Doing Something At LastA Chapter by Julesthey do something to find dougie at last... sorry thats my fault i wrote it
~ The alarm, always set for seven o’clock, went off loudly after just three hours of sleep. Aidan came round slowly, feeling surprisingly relaxed and comfortable. A warm body curved against him and a curly blonde head rested on his chest. One of his arms was resting on her hip and on of her delicate hands was entwined with his hair. He froze. If he moved she would wake up and this magic moment would be ruined. Melody lay there as still and sleep like as she could. When she had woken up half an hour ago she had been shocked to find her and Aidan so close. But she had slept the best she had in a long time and was so comfortable she pushed aside her embarrassment and stayed where she was even when he had woken up. The door slammed open and Ginny barged in, taking in the two sleeping bodies with shock. The pair of them leapt out of their skin and sprung apart. “I don’t want to know,” Ginny said quickly before either of them could say a word. “Just get up so we can find Dougie sooner rather than later.” She disappeared again. “This is so bad. She’s going to think we… and we didn’t.” Melody groaned, blushing her usual bright pink. “Didn’t we? I was under the impression you rather enjoyed yourself last night or was it so bad you can’t even remember.” Aidan said seriously. Melody stared at him and he broke out into a grin. “Don’t worry I’m joking you would remember let me assure you.” He slid around her and grabbing some clothes he disappeared into the bathroom. Melody blushed a darker pink again as the meaning of his words sunk in and hurried to get dressed again. Trying to seem vaguely clean she turned her panties inside out and borrowed Aidan's deodorant, which left her smelling of him. Then she dressed in her crumbled trousers and stared at her creased and marked white blouse in dismay. She couldn’t wear this again. It smelt like a greasy restaurant and had some of the stains to prove that’s where it had been the night before. Aidan opened the door without knocking unused to sharing his room and Melody covered her chest quickly with the offending top. “I’m sorry,” he apologised sincerely, turning his back on her. She could see his neck turning red in embarrassment and couldn’t be mad at him for storming in without warning. “Do you know if there is a top I can wear?” Melody asked pulling Aidan's t-shirt on again for the moment. “Come and look in my mum’s room.” ~ When they had all managed to get dressed, Melody phoned the school and tried to explain the situation the best she could. Aidan went next door with Ginny to talk to Mrs Thompson. Returning alone Aidan picked up his car keys and ushered Mel out to the car. They drove to the bar in silence, both looking at the streets for any sign of Dougie. Half an hour later Aidan hit the dashboard in frustration, making Melody jump. “We’ll get there soon and then we can ask around,” she tried to reassure him. “Sorry it’s just hard being patient when your little brother is missing and not answering his phone.” Parking haphazardly outside the bar, Aidan leapt out. Melody followed him more slowly, eyeing the seedy place wearily. By the time she caught up with him, he was sat at the bar smiling at the barman. “Sweetie, what will it be?” Aidan cooed pulling her close to his side. Melody almost laughed but realised he was putting on an act. “Only a diet coke for honey,” she replied eyes glinting humorously, “Remember the baby.” Almost choking on his own coke, his face turning red, Aidan tried to ignore her unexpected joke. He turned to the bar man again. “One diet coke for the missus please. Me and Roxanne here are just passing through town and wanted to check up on some friends. A young guy we know, Dougie is his name, comes here I believe. Have you seen him recently?” “Really young guy, tall and skinny, with all kinds of jewellery? Yeah, he was here yesterday afternoon to talk to Roger the owner. Got the boss all upset and they took it outside.” “Outside!” Melody squeaked outraged. “Yep, when Roger gets mad he goes all out. The nipper got carted of in an ambulance and all. Hope his family is not too worried. The guys properly took his wallet and all.” “He always was one to get into trouble,” said Aidan downing his coke. “Thanks for the drink. If you see him again tell him, we’re sorry we missed him from Lee and Roxanne.” Pulling Melody or the pregnant Roxanne as she now was apparently, Aidan left quickly. “That’s no way to handle a pregnant lady,” she grumbled when they were in the car. Aidan laughed tightly. “If I didn’t have you to keep things more positive, I would be destroying something right now.” He drove fast to the local hospital, giving Melody his phone to call Ginny, so she and Mrs Thompson could meet them there. He hoped his idiot brother wasn’t to badly hurt. © 2009 JulesAuthor's Note
