...So I had an awakening today...

Some lad comes into the shop and asks to buy some scones for his mum. He asks if I can help him, so of course I say,

"Sure lad, what can I do ya for?"

And he goes on explaining how his mum didn't get much for St.Valentine's day...and explain how his Da was sick and everything and gave him some money to get her something. And well, his Da said that his mum's favourite was Blueberry Scones. Sadly, We didn't have any made up yet because it was pretty early in the day.

Well, I explained  to our manager - who's quite a friendly bloke - and he said...

"Well, why don't you take the lad in the back and you can both make some scones for his mum? Oh and throw in some Tea and a few Butter Scones for his Da. They always helped me when I was down." He paused. "And here...you can put them in this basket for him. Just charge his Euro for the lot of it."

...and as we went to the back to make and fire up the scones I realized something...Valentine's day is such a beautiful holiday. It doesn't matter what happens, you can always help someone. Whether it be to make scones, decorate cards, or just be with some close mates...

Today really taught me allot about the love that can be spread around on a day like today.

When I lived in Ireland, I think I ate 3 baskets of fresh scones in one sitting ... it is one of my best memories. Hot tea, scones, melting butter (give me a moment to recover) ahhh - that was the good stuff! You made a memory for someone else - both with flour and with words. Those were profound scones! ;)

A nice tale of just plain being kind. How nice that it was Valentine's Day. Just the little things that matter in life. Also, the Irish setting is always picture-perfect, especially for a story like this.

You tell this sweet story with an engaging style. I think it could have just a bit longer, but I enjoyed what of it there was.
