My love is unconditional

My trust however is not

I let you ease into my heart

No judgments no pretense

I grew to care for you deeply

Just by the sound of your words

I shared with you a part of me

Rarely given freely

When your desire was not met

You taunted me

The slice cut deeply

So unexpected

Flags of caution waved

Old wounds reopened

To love without trust...sucks. Brings up so many fears and defects of character. Trust is earned, and for many that's hard to accept, but for those of us that have deeply hurt it's a defense mechanism. Such beautiful words, you never disappoint! You touch on a subject that is very personal and often upsoken. Great job!!

The heart will love unconditionally.
The mind will not trust unconditionally.

The two will do battle eternally without that trust, as octane said. It will suck. :(

I enjoyed the way you stated this though, hating to say I enjoyed a piece like this though. It adds a greater depth of feeling to that battle. Thank you for sharing this!
