My blood runs fast with the strength of my steed
The dampness in the air lingers thick
I must warn my love of the nefarious greed
Of the despicable king and but quick
The hills are horrendous
The fields vast and dense
When suddenly appeared
The castle darkly immense
The hooves sounds were thunderous
Across the moat to the guards
Their shadows loomed against the stone
Direful and dreadfully large
I removed the armor from my head
My hair fell long and loose
I’ve a message for the sire
Replete with worth and truth
They helped me from sturdy horse
And as I faced the doors
The man himself took me in his arms
Both with safety and remorse
You shouldn’t have come this far
The way is treacherous and trying
I replied with sorrowful tears in my eyes
I couldn’t stand the thought of you dying
Fear not the end of mine life my love
I have gathered a formidable lot
To secure the boundary’s of my entire kingdom
And one fair maiden’s heart.
