The TattooA Story by PointblankFor The Image of Her contest
The Tattoo I was sure you would come to my rescue. I thought I would fall asleep and wake up in a hospital bed with you holding my hand begging God not to take me. You never came. I fell asleep and you never came. I know you were with her. I drove by her house and your truck was parked outside. I cried so hard I thought my heart would explode. You said you loved me and would love me forever. What did I do? We made plans that night to see that new movie with Tom Cruise. You’d pick me up at 7:30 and we’d get something to eat first. I washed my hair and wore that pink sweater you said you liked. You know the one; I wore it to the party where we met for the first time barely six months ago. I waited and waited. Finally I called you at home. I was so glad you answered and I didn’t say anything about seeing your truck earlier. You said you were on your way but needed to stop off somewhere first. You said you loved me too and hung up. Two hours passed and you still hadn’t shown. I knew where you were. You would stop by later I knew you would, with an excuse to where you had been for so long. I would be waiting. I would be waiting for you to find me. You would realize that you really loved ME and that you could not live without me. I like the tattoo you have of my face on your upper arm. It looks a lot like me. What a beautiful way to honor me. I will be with you forever just not quite like I dreamed I would be. PB 9/3/08 © 2008 Pointblank |
