Blue Monday

Blue Monday

A Poem by Pointblank

Incomplete thoughts today

Nowhere to go

Unsure of the way

Suns shining brightly

Outside my door

What’s the reason

To go out anymore

Cat wants to go

Looks at me strange

Why are we standing here?

Let’s go out and play!

I cracked the barrier

Warmth rushed in

I’ll sit on the steps

Think of my sins

My cat rubs me

Get up

Come on

Walk to the mailbox

The driveways not long

There are butterflies

And bumblebees

A neighbor waves Hi

Don’t talk to me I think

That’s it, goodbye

Kitty has left me

He’s exploring the earth

Alone again

Inside

To ponder my worth.

It might just be that for some odd reason of late that I have been an emotional wreck, but this work had me both smiling and on the verge of crying (I think it is a lack of sleep, to not be honest). The comparison between the freedom of kitty just wanting you to come along to play and then wondering off... to a person coming into your life and then abandoning you, leaving you alone - is a tough, but good one. When a pet rouses us to go do something and then wanders off, we think it is them just being them - when a person does it, we fall apart inside.

I really like this poem. I like the flow, how you entwine the cats thoughts into your prose. Poor little kitty. ;-)
