Her/Me

Her/Me

A Poem by Rachel Mason
"

My ex-boyfriend is STILL kind of a terrible person.

"
I hope you don't hurt anyone,
except yourself.
I hope your boredom with life
a c h e s  in your bones.

She
's my replacement,
but I care about how you treat her
because it reflects how you treated
me.

Four years later
you still choose the
"worthless" girl
instead of the one in front of
you.

The same exact stupid mistake.
The same exact stupid mistake.

If I could protect your girl,
I'd use my body as a shield.
No one deserves to feel the way I did.
To starve,
emotionally, physically.

She deserves care and
compassion and
patience and
security and
love.

But I know you can't give
all those things
to her
because you couldn't give them
to me.

I am sorry he treated you so badly, and I am sure he will continue his behavior as you say. Some people never change. On the upside he gave you fuel to write this beautiful poem. I thought the crossed out "The same exact stupid mistake." lines were very clever. Keep writing it was a great read.

Thank you so much:) If there is one thing I can accredit him with, it's material for angry poems;P

You can't protect everyone from the big bad wolf/world, she has to make her own mistakes and find out for herself, I felt where you were coming from though...the pain lingers on and on...
