Erosion

Erosion

A Poem by Lacy Cole

I can feel something eating at me,
much like the rocks who live by the sea,
less and less, wave by wave,
clinging to the pieces I've saved.
A life near the ocean seemed so great.
I remind myself that i choose this fate.
Some mornings are so clear with sweetness and sunshine,
that it makes me forgive the parts stolen of mine.
The salt sometimes stings, yet i still stay.
like a rock at the oceans bay.

I loved the lines " The salt sometimes stings, yet i still stay/ like a rock at the oceans bay."
As somebody who lives near the ocean, these images were rich and vivid to me. Sometimes a love-hate relationship with where one lives is just the nature of things, isn't it?
