As they fly

As they fly

A Poem by lindsay

There is sense of burning leaves
and with a brisk wave of the wind
the last leaf is shoved of the limb
and falls toward  a child's sleeve.

She prances around the gentle creature
and it dances along.
They flutter like a song
for  they are part of nature.

Her brother is not far behind
as he too slides on the ground.
The leaves below crunch down
and the children unwind.

The leaves are flying in the air
and alive once more.
Happiness is at their hearts core
as the children stare.

And the the leaves fly off across the land
far off into the orange sky.
Soon they are not even visible by eye,
but the children will remember holding leaves in their hand.

What a beautiful, tender glimpse of childhood in autumn.. that dance of the leaves and that feeling of freedom in the chilling air.. This is so alive with movement and color!
