Live Infinitely

Live Infinitely

A Poem by lindsay

I frolic down the lane
as I stop to sniff the flowers .
I walk by and wonder about all of natures magical powers.

I hear a hummerbird singing
when it hovers over me.
I listen in amazement as I try to disect what the secrets could mean.

I gaze upon the clouds
as I lay back and look at the sky.
I take in the vastness and I open my mind.

My barefeet bounce through water
as I hop on stones through the creek.
Finding that infinite moment, is what I am seeking.

I live life infinitely.
Freely and simply .

Frolic, amazement, infinitely, and 'gaze upon' are all words that are either old and redundant now (i.e. such as frolic), or words that say too much and aren't specific (i.e. like infinitely).

Stephen King said in his book On Writing ("the road to Hell, is paved with adverbs.")

Look I love the intention of this poem, and the places it explores. However, I feel it's time to look at tightening up in a few places.

There's no harm in reading more poetry (as a source for original phrases - by that I mean published poets you read about at University). You should also consider King's book...it's a damn fine insight into writing well.

I love the way you write- such purity. This took me back to a time when I did look up at the sky. Loved this.

What an adorable piece of poetry you paint a wonderful vision here, there is nothing quite like being at one with nature and appreciating mother earth in her splendour you have captured the essence of tranquility and escaped to place where minds can be relaxed far from the unsettling world we live in.
