Identity Crisis

Identity Crisis

A Poem by LaCherish T.
"

Had an encounter with a drunk person today and this came out.

"

Stop slugging your pains away, it only drives you insane

Don’t look at me, I don’t recognize you in that state

Who are you today?

Jack or Jose?

Arthur or Alize?

I can’t keep up

Plastered fantasies fade into a savage sober reality

Toast to new beginnings?

You know the inevitable, so stop deluding

Tell me who you are today

Brandy or Bailey?

Cristal or Chardonnay?

I can’t keep up

Loathe until I’m saturated in fervent hate

Can’t look at myself, I don’t recognize me this way

What hazed the glimmer in my eyes?

What erased smile off my face?

Was it Jim or Johnny?

Stella or Sherry?

Do I know who I am today?

No.
