A Debt of Entry

A Debt of Entry

A Poem by labyrinthapathy

In those times you lay awake
A somber thought possessed
This "bleeding heart" will take what's left of friends...

 But what friends?
The accomplices to a smiling hate crime
Donning a simple mask of peace?
An innocent soul laughs at the meek
And the bold shout with dismay,
"Send me away! Cast me out to a farther sea, in hopes that I might be...

...similar!"

 A glint behind cloth.
A once happy life shrouded in discomfort
Or only what appeared to be
A normal childhood.

Calmly, you step out into the wind.
Your shoulders, your chest pushed back from a misguided force
Merely an infant of nature, but all the same.
For what? For whom? And when?
Are we not who you thought us to be?
Do we think? Can we breath?
Is the zephyr hiding the Sun still as beautiful an experience to us?
Can we forget about it?
