Your opinion is the only one in question

If you write out of a need to satisfy anyone

aside from yourself, consider yourself pulled from the race.

Others can perhaps inspire your writings,

or act as a muse,

but if you're writing out of hopes to

please them, there is nothing worse.

You’ve sold to them your mind,

your words,

your truth.

Without that, you have nothing.

You are nothing.

You must write only for yourself,

or not at all.

There is no other option.

there is wisdom in these words. i believe ultimately we write for ourselves and we shouldn't care what other people think, the critics whose own work are total s**t and have no business writing poetry or giving negative feedback or telling you how to write a poem using conventional methods.

Your message is something that all writers need to hear. We too often write to impress others instead of writing as a way to express ourselves, and when we do this, we have lost all honesty and integrity that may have filled the writing. Somehow, writing that is not entirely honest has lost any chance of being great, as well.

This must be why your writing is always so fantastic--you are entirely honest on all fronts. Great piece.
