Sweet Misery

Sweet Misery

A Poem by laRagazza

I can see
On your face
Where your youth had been.
Bright green eyes,
smile lines,
light red rosy skin.
You sit there
in despair
counting down
every tear
that falls from
those green eyes
to your tangled hair.
You look out
with a pout,
face behind your hands,
looking for
just one more,
one more who understands.
Someone great,
who'll stay up late,
with whom you can
commiserate
and then you'll laugh
a painful laugh
and say that you're complete.

If I had
a magic cure
to take away the pain,
You'd smile and then shake your head
and say you're fine this way.

I really like the end of this. It really makes the poem into a neat balance of happy and sad because while most of the poem is about how sad this women is at the end she says that she wouldn't want to change even if she could. one thing that's a little off is that you seem to switch between having a rhyme and not really caring I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. otherwise I really enjoyed reading this.
