Land of Faeries

Land of Faeries

A Poem by Simplicity
"

Just a light hearted poem I wrote for my 3 year old cousin.

"

The child sits atop the hill,
She watches the magic taking place
Hidden among the trees.

Their skin glows in the fading sunlight.
Yellows and pinks and orange-y hues,
Eyes brighter than life,
Shining against the light
Of the fire in the middle of it all.

She can smell their feast,
She can hear their laughter,
Their voices soft as they sing
A joyous tune.

"Come, child, come",

The faeries sing.

"Come celebrate your smile,

Your heart,

Come celebrate your beauty with us."

As the sun's last rays set in,
The girl closes her eyes.
In her mind's eye,
She suddenly sprouts wings,
Soft and silky,
Light and honey-colored.

Her skin glows a faint gold
As the sun finally recedes.

The fire seems to shine brighter
As night finally comes,
But the Faeries' feast has only begun.

The child opens her eyes,
And gently flutters her wings
Toward the Land of Faeries
Where the celebration continued.

Author's Note

Simplicity
Dedicated to my little cousin Mia. It was inspired as I sat on a hill with a pretty view.
It's my first light hearted, cheery poem, and I really like it. Hope you do, too.
