A Permanent Mistake

A Permanent Mistake

A Poem by Kyle Romano
"

Judgment?

"

Grasp this final frontier,

And explain your case to me.

What is it,

Do you think,

That makes you worthy?

The explosive wreck,

Might be the best thing,

That has happened to you yet.

I feel queasy…

What did I do?

Was it enough?

To assure myself,

A permanent slot.

I passed a man,

He asked my name,

But I just kicked sand,

In his face.

Now I can see.

Now that I’m free.

I might be fine,

But I’ll never be the same.

Alone in this hole,

Faced to suffer under shame.

If only in that case,

I had opened my choices.

Now my eyes remain shut,

As I can only steal glances.

The Angels are so far away,

But closer than I ever knew.

The shadow of His holy grace,

Is the only thing that keeps me going.
