The Masterpiece

The Masterpiece

A Poem by Kyle Romano
"

An idea for lyrics to a song for my band.

"

Deep inside,

A monster,

The bile drips,

For miles and miles.

The things I’ve tried,

Sped-up quicker,

The eventual rip,

Of a developing style.

So now it’s time to start over,

A masterpiece,

But much closer.

A silent sound,

Calls us,

From the ashes.

To rise and fall,

Catch the sun,

With glimpses of suppression.

The only obstacle,

In my way,

Is a broken but hidden message.

So I’ll sleep ‘til it wakes:

This hidden mistake,

That’s meant to break the darkness.

Open arms and greeting friends,

Are factors that I can’t define.

The sacred touch of softer hands,

Is so much harder to come by.

When rhyme nor reason,

No longer hold the meaning that I tried.

Then slipping forever,

Along swollen paths,

The swamp has yet to refine.

A glimpse,

And I feel done.

But how am I to think?

Nothing but,

This fragile luck,

Has sustained me through the years.

Maybe together,

We’ll find a new hope,

Much better,

Than the one where I choked.

On a rope,

That no longer belongs to me.
