Illusion

It burns
With the power of a sun
Eating its way through the lies
The deadly sensation
Stings my eyes
Tears stream down my face
And turn to vapor

From the distance
It radiates an aura
An illusion of obtain ability
A deception of freedom
Bait
Luring the naïve
Devouring the hopeful

I reach out
Desperate for its touch

My once soft ivory fingers
A grotesque and mangled mess
Do not feel
Nor can they grasp
