Forever

A Poem by Kurtis Scott Huffaker
"

This poem is simply about life and death and whatever you make of it. Enjoy. ;)

"

FOREVER!

Tired by dancing, I

Settled on the window ledge in the sun;

My eye caught him trying to resume, so

From the wooden ledge I fell, fluttering

My wings unconsciously

His legs struggled vainly,

But his helplessness of attitude roused

Me! I stretched out my help to right myself,

Yet my extraordinary efforts

Agitated him more

I flutter again, but

My colossal effort instantly grew;

After a recess of exhaustion my

Life had been strange only a few minutes

Before it was superb

Again somehow I saw

His death so vast a force nobody saw,

The plane of life that is so stronger than

I! Watching the extraordinary

Minute creature beheld

O Yes! I am that who

Looked out of the doors to see mid-day’s labor

All I saw were masses of human beings,

That is where I saw him disconcerted:

My struggle was OVER!

He seemed to say,

Mortality is stronger than I

FOREVER!
