Mirage

Mirage

A Poem by Nautili

Your shimmering love

in the heat of the day

beckons me to step forth.

You dance;

 mesmerizing me

in the hazy

distance.

 A prize, if I am patient~

to be won.

Suddenly all  around me

comes into focus.

Your lovely apparition starts to fade.

Illusions are for fools...

and I will be one no longer.

on the surface is calm but under the skin, a blur of emotion,is this the mirage or just another heated notion? Well done with this work my friend...well done

Lovely write , I like how you draw the reader in almost like seduction and then the last two lines say I have strength enough not to be fooled.

It seems like the words on this page are asking for more, but what you have is creative and whitty

Closure is a process. We must stand alone and feel our weight 100% on our own feet to know we don't need anything or anyone to lean on. This is a proclamation of strength in the face of desire. Absolutely lovely.

To be honest, the first part of the poem didn't make me think anything in particular. It seems neither good nor bad, it's just sort of, well... it's there. I'm not sure whether I'm at fault for not having a reaction, or the poem is at fault for not invoking a reaction.

But then the last two lines make up for it. Actually, the last two lines cold have been all there is to it, because while the first part didn't seem to have a particular point, the last two lines says it all. "You silly, love-struck fool," they seem to be saying, "you know it's just daydreaming, wake up". Yes, indeed. They seem to posses an appropriate kind of spite.

Nice twist at the end there and I really liked your diction in this piece. Very nicely done! A pleasant little read.
