The Judge

The Judge

A Poem by Nautili
"

"Your gavel pounded it’s depression deep into the recesses of my soul."

"

Your gavel pounded it’s depression

deep into the recesses of my soul.

I despised your haughty expression,

your restrictive robe of black coal.

Your skewed accusations caught me off-guard;

Your bias largely based on misinformation,

and magic so molten fiery between us,

quickly hardened, dented and marred.

Dumbfounded by your verbal attack,

I realized it was knowledge that you lacked.

Opening my mouth for my defense,

The words floated and rose in the air,

Unheard by your closed,intractable ear.

The air is stuffy, cramped and stale,

like a room swirling with heavy cigar smoke.

Judgment burns my eyes, turns my dreams pale,

Makes my throat close and choke.

Desire to be in your presence mangled

Under a judge’s harsh, unyielding hand.

Emotions jarred and jangled,

Render your verdict; I am not one of the damned.

I close the heavy wooden door,

I will not be returning

to your self-appointed

courtroom anymore.

How you voice something so personal... so intimate... and yet so universal... those feelings of judgment and guilt that others can invoke within us.. the statements and glares that can cut the heart and soul... Powerfully expressed and filled with the hope to move on.

Summary trials in love seem to take every one by storm; specially when the judge lives in a world of his own.

Lol women too can do it too.

Nice to be able to put ones emotions in poetry and feel the freedom as the pain softens and lifts away from the heart.

So you have had one of those, too? It is a "heavy wooden door" that closes when you realize that someone you thought cared will not even listen and is so determined to pronounce a sentence on you and your emotions. I think the artwork you chose adds to the feeling of this...especially the one at the end. Flee..

You lose so much when you discover a person you thought of as dear and "a rock" to lean on when you lacked strength - pre-judges or just judges you, your actions, thoughts, life ...without even a pause to listen to anything or an attempt to understand anything.

All is seldom black and white... so very, very seldom black and white.
