Daughter of the Sky

Daughter of the Sky

A Poem by Nautili
"

for my daughter, Marisa Celeste.who went off to college this past fall.

"

Daughter of the Sky,

The sun painted your locks

A golden sunflower’s hue,

The shade of your eyes,

Summer sky’s blue.

Azure iris sparkle, dancing light;

Scintillating stars glisten,

Mesmerizing cobalt night.

As you slept serenely in your crib,

The moon’s shadowed kiss

Imprinted an air of mystery.

Maker of woman from Adam’s rib;

Took from man to make beauty in me.

Yet now the moon shadow

Is whispering it is time to let you go.

As you sleep sound,

She will watch over you.

When you see her full and round,

Know I too, will see her,

And think lovingly of you.

The sun, moon and stars

Mark the days that we are apart.

Daughter of the day and night,

Let your glory shine forever bright,

And when you wish upon your star,

Know your dreams and drive

 shall take you far.

Author's Note

Nautili
This picture represents Gepetto's blue fairy, but also looks a lot like my daughter. She wishes upon the star, but is also the one to fulfill the wish.

How touching (I have tears in my eyes)! So poignant, and full of a mother's love. Absolutely beautiful, nothing more to say
