Zoe's Elemental Prayer

Zoe's Elemental Prayer

A Poem by Nautili

This is for those new friends who never read this one.

Breathe your zephyr wind upon me,

O Spirit of God.

Like you did to your first-born son,

Granting to him your sustaining life force,

As you exhaled the breath of life

Into his lungs.

For I am waiting in the river,

Wading and waiting for you.

Sweep me into your overflowing,

Intoxicating current.

Elohim, you are the one that I long for.

As in Ezekiel’s vision, breathe your life

Into my parched, withering spirit.

For I am a dry vessel,

Cast aside in this desert,

Amidst a valley of dry bones.

You are fresh, clean water.

Fill me and let me live again.

Or turn yourself into fragrant, fruity wine,

And let me drink deeply.

Wind and Fire, elements of your nature,

Blow your breath upon my slowly igniting flame,

Till I am ablaze, but not consumed,

Like the red-tongued bush

On the holy ground of Horeb,

Or the temple’s golden lamp stand,

Filled with the olive oil

Of seven ever burning lights.

May my quiet song in the night

Float past myriad stars and planets,

Novas and galaxies,

Until it ascends your royal throne.

May it be as smoldering temple incense,

Filling your nostrils with its sweet aroma.

Or as a precious perfumed oil,

Poured from a treasured alabaster jar.

May I be as Mary, dripping fragrance

Upon your anointed head,

And caressing your scarred feet

With my long hair

And  deathless devotion.

You have come to pour yourself into me.

I do not understand what transpires

When your Spirit touches mine.

It is magic. It is pure. It is the tender kiss of lovers.

It is incomparable to any other pleasure;

This holy passion, this timeless union of Spirit with spirit,

This amazing dance of bride and groom.

Faith and love alone can make you one with God; what ever you believe in becomes reality.

I loved the last stanza.

Sister.. what can I say here other than I truly felt I had opened the Bible and was reading a passage from, "Song of Solomon"..

Exquisite writing.. what an absolute pleasure to read and ingest...
