A Frozen Season

A Frozen Season

A Poem by Nautili
"

written last year, revised a bit.

A Frozen Season

Crunch of snow beneath feet fatigued,

Crisp air breathing restoration into stifled lungs,

Circles of steam blown

from cold, red lips

Awaken the truth that I am alive.

A pearly hush of silence,

My roving soul is blanketed

with stillness and serenity.

Simplicity within a frozen season;

how beautiful are naked limbs.

I come to a farmer's milky-white field,

Scattered bundles of shredded wheat;

white icing nestled in crannies on top.

I see two deer on the distant hill,

Instinct of hunger driving their search.

Feathery crystals coat my eyelashes.

My gaze slowly shifts to the east.

Alabaster trees tower like guardian angels,

shielding forest dwellers.

A hidden hunger in my soul stirs...

I am Lucy looking for my Aslan.

The imagery...the chill...what a beautiful psychosis. It's funny how such beauty this time of year can burn the lungs. The sun hurts the eyes. The snow stings the skin.

I hate winter..lol.

If I can be warm..and view it from the inside looking out...then all is good. :D
These words stir up images of natures beauty and our eternal hunger to wish and want love.

Can there be an end to it? IDK

Beautiful! I love the imagery, and how you describe the beautiful winter scene. I can almost feel the cold, wintery air... though maybe that's because I left the window open... x)
Anyways, excellent job!!

This is a beautiful piece! Winter is my least favorite season, and yet, I wish to be in the scene you paint with your words. Great write.

Lovely! And I adore the Narnia references. C.S. Lewis is a favorite author of mine.

A pearly hush of silence,

My roving soul is blanketed

with stillness and serenity.

Simplicity within a frozen season;

how beautiful are naked limbs.

I enjoyed the way this moved from a 'detached' sort of description to an emotive write - a sentiment... the imagery and word choices are exquisite. Nicely done.

This seems to be a long, cold journey in search for the lost, or perhaps, for one destined flame. Lines flow well. Keep writing.
