     Born to roam the open sea,

A mermaid with legs;

My hidden deformity.

I love anything to do with water-waterskiing, jet-skiing, kayaking, swimming, boating, aquariums, snorkelling, and yes.....mermaids.

I do have an affinity to water, always have, but I also love nautilus shells,look on my profile page at the Holmes poem- so my moniker has a double meaning....you were the first to notice that correlation,no surprise there.I will check out your link now!

I know from a very early age when I was swimming in our lake I would fantasize I was a mermaid, and I have had a connection to water since then.

I think this is a very nice representation of the Senryu form. There is a sense of duty here about the ocean; the connection runs deeply through the very nature of the speaker. However, there also seems to be a deep longing to be fully immersed in the waves that can't fully be obtained due to the human form. It is interesting how our hearts call us to elements other than earth. I think that says a lot about our nature as beings and writers.

Such a beautiful, melancholy vision of life beneath the waves... and within the heart perhaps as well... Smiled at your watery pursuits so I couldn't pass this up... I did have a thing for a mermaid once.. but.. well... it just didn't work out.. creative differences.
