Caged

Caged

A Poem by Nautili
"

"But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams. His shadow shouts on a nightmare scream. His wings are clipped and his feet are tied, so he opens his throat to sing." ~ Maya Angelou

Caged

Squawking diatribe,
flapping with ferocity against
metal bars.
Fragile feathers floating down,
like white clouds descending slowly,
and settling in a dense mist.
The hinged door suddenly opens,
Seeing beyond,
but frozen in icy fear.
The silence
of wings, of voice,
of will.
Hearing the song of freedom,
but safety's song is louder still.

One spot, my mind has rolled like a dog in ,safety's an opinion , a moral view of choices , woven into our thick unforgiving skin by the patterns of people who left the door open for all lifes dust to blow in.

If you read one of mine," Hyena" gives your poem a bite.

Hearing the song of freedom... It is indeed the song of life and freedom where you take us on flight and see the fears of losing our freedoms in life...We can cage so many things but most importantly we can cage our feelings ... Sometimes we have to share and release those feelings so we can be free from the guilt and pain...
Well penned dear poetess...

Freedom has its good and bad points... I love the contrasted from the mixed emotions.

Sometimes the hardest boundary to cross, the hardest bond to break is ourselves, our fears that we can't. This is beautiful Nautili, just stunning. I think the reader and all of us will relate to this all too well. Thank you for sharing.
