Perfect

Perfect

A Poem by nk36n37e
"

"And did you get what you wanted from this life, even so? I did. And what did you want? To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth.” -Raymond Carver, Late Fragment

"

I’m not hopeful

My heart has died in this furnace

If I’m so brave,

Why does looking you in the eye

Take every ounce of my courage?

I’ll be nothing but jaded

I’ll never be perfect

My eyes have cracked my reflection

Yet you hold me me

Even when I so far from deserved it

Author's Note

nk36n37e
Something that I hate more than anything is when people make their own God, and use it to justify hateful comments towards people. God is a loving, caring person, not some 'mighty smiter' just waiting to send people to hell, and that's what this reflects.

Love this, another thoughtful poem from your extensive collection of wonders! I especially love "Why does looking you in the eye Take every ounce of my courage?", when something so simple can be the most difficult thing you have to do. I also read your authors note and I agree with you, God is an all loving Father not ruining the world, that's the fault of man alone. x

I agree darlin..a Christian of mih own kind..get very frustrated by peoples interpretation and mans thumbprint all over scripture. I read all scripture..not merely whats included in the Cannon to justifiy Constantine and King James need of a divorce with Katherine of Aragon..
It all comes back to a loving God for me..of anyones own true understanding..never forced upon anyone..and stated clearly in my faith that Judgement..vengeance those sorts of things were not meant to rest in our minds.
Very well written..able to put your own message in with your clear one. Really loved this piece sweetheart!

Love and wishes of tolerance and mutual acceptance.

Hi Noah. Intriguing. "Yet you hold me." The you must be God. Yet you fear and are not hopeful.

I recognize that in myself.

Powerful piece.
