GravelA Poem by nk36n37eNever has there been so much, owned by so little.A few tender beams of sunlight Reaching into space Grasping on to the clouds But they lost their grip And with the gravity That comes with the cold calamity of night The sun was buried alive I had no choice Putting down my bottle Me and others got up And moved towards the hills We walked for miles No land but the rocky gravel Beneath our tattered sneakers I don’t care We kneeled Slowly Cupped our hands And dug Through the gravel Dug Dug W E J U S T D U G We hit bottom It grabbed my arms Tenderly So I pulled him Up Up Until He reached the surface And he flew He flew above and beyond the night We all stared at it Only for a moment A minute A second Hour Day I didn’t care So we walked back I didn’t care Not a sound Did I No sound Dear God Except Footsteps No Gravel © 2015 nk36n37eAuthor's Note
