ForsakenA Poem by nk36n37eDon't you know there ain't no devil, it's just god when he's drunk. Tom WaitsWake up to Cristal In the winter afternoon I spend my evenings hung over And keep some vodka in the cupboard For the night time blues It’s not a sin, and I know it I need it to get by I can’t deny the dragon Wouldn’t even need this s**t If Michael didn’t die No one else got the message The game has new rules As my hunger scratches my inner walls It speaks the truth Of course it’s cool if it’s helping you to get through But excuses, excuses Tsk your tongue if you please The queen died today And we sobbed into our broken chests As we fell to our knees It’s easier to look into our bodies And pick out humanity from pity We just take the sorrow we want Wipe up the tears And avert our eyes from the cats in the city So I’ll just sit here on the curb With my bottle of Scotch I don’t mind your prying eyes I just smile and nod Staring at your custom made shoes and calendar watch So let’s make a toast To all my beautiful bar-flies Pretty babies whose mom’s hopes washed down their throats Like the alcohol elevated above our lowered heads We’ll raise a glass each time a dream dies And as the sea of spirits Launches a wave through the stage I just spin the glass in my hand And smile As the Cristal crashes through my veins© 2015 nk36n37eAuthor's Note
