TRUST "Story Of Mary Smalls"A Story by KuntryAll is not as it seemsTRUST "Story Of Mary Smalls" Mary Smalls was an interesting woman,Having been married for most of her adult life she still couldn't fathom the idea of living her life alone. Ben Smalls had provided well for his wife, he worked hard to insure his family had a decent life. The home in the country was all they both had ever hoped for. Now that both kids had finished college and were well on their way to lives of their own Mary couldn't help but feel the loneliness that an empty house brings. Even though it had only been a year since Ben's sudden death, Mary had decided that now was the time to move on. At 45 she most certainly wasn't getting any younger. Her youth taken from constant battle with Sir Isaac Newtons laws. In her mind time was against her, so at the suggestion of a friend, Mary bought a computer. She had heard that the Internet was the quickest way to meet people. Having been out of this dating game for years and years she really hadn't a clue..... Over the next few months Mary had discovered a whole new world. You could talk all over the universe with just the click of a mouse. She would spend hours on end doing just that. Then early one morning while checking the days previous messages she found one she couldn't get off her mind. It was from a man just one state away, He had lost his wife to Cancer and his name was Bill. Mary had a heart of gold, she was always first in line at the blood bank if need be. If ever anyone needed a friend they could always count on Mary. She never met a stranger and was the most trusting soul on earth. Reading Bill's story had saddened her some. She herself knew exactly what it was like to lose the one you love. She also knew how lonely life could leave you at times so with this as her motive she started writing to Bill. Turned out they had many things in common. The way Bill would put it was "They had Everything in common." Her likes were his likes, she loved Classic Music and so did he.She had a soft spot for dancing and who'd a guessed it? So did Bill. Mary's number one requirement in any type relationship was honesty.. Well since Bill promised that he would never tell her a lie how could she not let him into her life...... Mary woke up to the sound of the rain. As she looked out her window at the black southern sky she thought to herself "Nothing will ruin today". The winds of a Tornado wouldn't keep her from her appointment. Only two more hours and she would pick Bill up at the Station. She did think it odd that he would take a train such a short distance but she assumed he had his reasons. When she arrived Bill was waiting on her at the platform. He looked slightly older than his photo's, his face just a little hardened by life she guessed. Maybe his clothes were a couple of years out of style, Mary didn't mind, "Nobody's perfect right?". They spoke only briefly the long ride back to Mary's home. "Oh he's just shy" Mary assumed. He did hold the door open for her as they entered the house. "Such a Gentleman Bill is." The night sky was illuminated by the flashing lights. Only moments before Mary's son had come for a surprise visit. Finding your Mom brutally murdered on the floor was not what was expected that day. Mary's son sat quietly in the corner while the Detectives did their work. The yellow tape marking this crime was everywhere. So were Bill's finger prints this would be an easy one to solve. As the pieces fell together fiction became truth, Bill was not really Bill at all. Turns out his real name was Sam. He had been serving two life sentences for murder when he first contacted Mary. Sam had three of the finest lawyers money could buy working on his appeal. They found a simple error in the paper work that enabled Sam's release. That very day he had been driven to the train station by two prison guards. He quickly grabbed his bags. The guards watched as he faded into the distance with that Lap Top under his arm. He was finally free to do as he pleased...... Y'ALL THINK ABOUT IT!...........kuntry © 2008 Kuntry |
