Whenever It Feels Right

Whenever It Feels Right

A Poem by Ernest James

You've been away for some time
And I've been just itching to pick up
Where we left off
Revealing what I've hidden away for so long
The sooner that it was over the sooner you were out on your own
Out on your own
Well the thoughts that still drag in my mind
Are the classic terms that you would recite
As if they were posted
As if you had forced them
"Forever and Always"
Isn't that right
Well as for me I'm in inclined to state that im fine
As for me

I'm thriving off sympathy
Condolences that console me
Though old habits so frequent
To them now I am enslaved
Hoping you might come around
And remove me from this state

Well I'll become adventurous
Doing all the things you would not try
Whenever I feel like
Though that hardly sits right
Because you're not here by my side
Well in case you're inquiring
In case you're asking after me
I would lie
And I'd deny and state that I'm fine
As for me
Im fine
I could be so prominent
Revered for all the feats I've accomplished in my life
Lathered in foolish pride
Though that hardly sits right
Because you're not here by my side
But I will wait
Until whenever it feels right
Whenever you feel like
I'm banking on clarity
A new vision to console me
Though derived hesitation I've locked within my pace
Because you might come around again
So I'll stay here just in case
