THROUGH THE MOTIONS OF A RIGGED RAT RACE

THROUGH THE MOTIONS OF A RIGGED RAT RACE

A Poem by kublakhan27

Sort of a capitulation makeover

Moxie enrobed in a nude costume

at the festival of unseen lights

Evasive action packed tight into

feeble deadpans of adverbs and prepositions

On occasion there's a resonance

of more matter cutting less talk

like a ceremonial ribbon

The necessity of skeleton key simplicity

sends articulation to the make-up chair

Sound waves snore in sedated contributions

as all that never needed to be said

preens under modern poverty's contradiction of

a shadeless lamp ramrod as an unlit candle

enlightening nothing save placebos of imagination

acquiescing in a universal shrug

like handicapped hamsters

in the wobbling rust wheel of a past trend's

hibernating fortune

They talk, they talk and talk and talk, but say nothing and do even less.. the world moves on to its logical man made destruction.. to those handicapped hamsters, RUN, dig tunnels deep and store grain everywhere, it's possible you may survive.... just watch out for those snoring sound waves.
You know I enjoyed this one Steve...

My pleasure
wow, you write very abstract. I like the images you conjure in this one. I like this line "enlightening nothing save placebos of imagination, acquiescing in a universal shrug. What a world we live in when imagination capitulates. Thank you for sharing, great poem, one I will store for future reference.

No problem man.
Whether is be politicians or the rich who really rule the world the rest of us are caught in this game of chance that has been rigged from the beginning. You've taken the hamster wheel metaphor and rusted it displaying that there is more to than just running in place, we are truly handicapped while we try. Great social/political commentary from you.

you're welcome
Placebos of imagination, handicapped hamsters.
You amaze my sometimes...

We move about on auto pilot sometimes, having lost that spark in the eye, but focused with an acute tunnel vision on our goal in life. Not necessarily achieving it though.

Modern poverty, yes. In this supposedly enlightened age it seems all we get are empty words and we spin our wheels and waste our energy. Profound truth and so articulately put!

So glad you enjoyed it Jennie, thanks so much for the kind words :)
I love the line of modern poverty. I take from this dissatisfaction, frustration, both with the world's crooked twisted ways and getting stuck in the endless loop of do, and to what end, and unhappiness with the self for being stuck in it.
