who can dissect it with an eloquence
immune to the infractions I restrain
inside the chainsaw-laced girdles of
imagination's sanity-configurating license
Sore spots soothe instantaneously under
the impenetrable monarchy of closed eyes
and the side of the parallel universe
that I sublet to the human race is allowed
to unfold free of my sardonic shreddings
I'll leave you to the eloquence of your dissections
so long as you do not impose upon
the sustenance of my mutations

Holy mutations, you're still at it! ;) We ought not try to figure out genius, do people try to figure out Dali or Monet, no, we're just amazed at the brilliance and complexity of such talent. Figure you out? Why would anyone think they could do that? Truly I don't think anyone can understand how someone thinks and why. Those who think they can are usually he judgmental sorts of the world. Your parallel universe might be very different from what you THINK others are experiencing, but it is yours...it is where you live and thrive. It is where you write eloquent poetry. There are things about me that I think are obvious, but for the most part, no, nobody should even bother trying haha I hope that I'm not a judgemental person but I feel like I am sometimes, and I think that's where a poem like this comes from...many would consider this unhealthy, but I think that the more time I spend on my side of the universe, the better...too much time spent on everyone else's side is likely to produce things I would regret saying, but I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling that way, there are just certain things that trigger those feelings all too easily for me...thanks so much as always for the support my friend, you inspire me to keep going in uninspiring times :)

I'm probably nothing if not self-deprecating...the problem is I'm usually too depressed to realize I'm self-deprecating, and it just feels like a natural state...does that make sense? haha I honestly can't tell...I find more comfort in a bed of nails than in trying to explain myself outside of poetry...of course your reviews and support make a world of difference, and I don't know what I'd do without it...I like 'wordslinger' haha Thank you my friend :)

I have this odd, contradictory combination of a thin skin and a hard head, and it's the latter which makes dissection difficult, even for myself...thanks so much Ana, you have brought a smile to my face which is no small feat these days :)

Haha I assure you these things do not come easy my friend, and they rarely come overnight, though this was an exception just cuz I was in a pissy mood and wanted to get it out while I was still in it :P It's really just a matter of reading as much as I can, and trying to retain as many of the unconventional words as I can that I come across along the way...mind you, I forget a lot more of them than I remember haha Thanks again for the love E, it is more than mutual :)

Hoo boy, you say dissect and my mind immediately goes to the cadaver I had to dissect on Monday. Not my favorite moment, and I have to do it three more times this semester. Yikes. But anyway, on to your lovely words that are much more pleasant than the smell of embalming fluid, I feel as though you are asking someone to try to understand what is going on in your head, and heart. Why you feel the things that you feel. The need to have someone clinically take you apart and label different aspects of your emotions. Anatomy, the structure, and physiology, the function. This is your sadness and you feel it because of this. Of course, it may just be that I am stuck in anatomy class. I apologize if I was way off, but that is how I related to it at least. Brilliant work Steve!

Ugh, I don't envy you for that, I could never do it haha...but you're absolutely spot-on my friend...a writer wants to be mysterious, and leave all possibilities on the table, yet there's also this part of me that I wish people understood better...it isn't just like this with writing for me either, I'm an extremely contradictory person in all aspects of life...I've always sworn that I have a split personality, and the older I get, the more convinced I become of it...but again, you nailed it with your assessments...thanks so much for Ashira, and more importantly, for understanding :)

I don't think that being one giant contradiction is all that unusual to be honest. I have so many things in my life that contradict one another that I sometimes feel like a hypocrite. But we are human beings with complex feelings, there is nothing we can do about how we feel. So you want to be vague but you want to have someone understand you. You just have to surround yourself with those who can read between the lines. ;)
