Periphery obliterated by the symmetric crags of a lightning bolt gleam illuminating my incrimination of warped memories in the unequivocal conviction of unceasingly succinct revolutions Entertainment contests art's academic inclinations Academics have no place in a sex drive or an inclination to rock out in solitary sways of an analog indulgence Shrunken visuals are compelled to adapt to environmental whims It's irrelevant against the auditory evanescence of your output True I have to interrupt the candlelit litanies of heard indulgences on a more frequent basis but the senses happily adapt to the more defined intervals in a sensual tenacity of musical immersion nefariously frowning on skipped songs Save the automatic modernity of convenience for appliances This is not microwave cooking or reality-impulsive channels This is entertainment Art is the framework of a jiving audiophile's sense of what a prude is deficient in like a vitamin or a comprehension of enabled chemistry in tracked instances of organic understanding
well well, I would love to hear what inspired this piece Steve.... there are a few parts in here that have me scratching my head... lol
love pearl jam....... I also love a lot of the phrasing in this one... takes my mind and my emotions in so many directions...
you are right, this is entertainment... sometimes academics aren't needed, especially with the sensual inclinations... mmmm yes... who needs a microwave when you have heated chemistry?... well done sir... I enjoyed this one...

While we spin and move to the beat of it all we can get lost in our own dizzy perceptions. Sometimes it is a matter of taste, but then again, some taste buds have been worn away by the entertainment rather that the ability to savor something special.
"Art is the framework
of a jiving audiophile's sense". I feel as if this relates to music.
There is a revolution going on and no one can see it but the art around us and the artists.
Without art, we are deficient and being prude is sometimes not the best policy do to "Shrunken visuals are compelled
to adapt to environmental whims". At least this is how I take it.
"This is not microwave cooking
or reality-impulsive channels
This is entertainment".
It definitely is. Art isn`t even art now, the computers does it for us and without the old fashioned way , one could never truly understand the conventionalism of suffering.
Music… the universal language. Whatever would life be without music? And songs are poetry set to music. I enjoyed your poem.
I do wonder is some of the terms might cause non-poet readers to struggle with it and abandon the read. Did you know you only have the first line or sentence to catch your reader's attention? Personally, I love to see writers use the full depth and reach of the language. But, even educated readers are too lazy to focus above an eighth grade reading level. Did you know that newspaper standard is a fifth grade reading level; magazine standard is eighth grade level.

I've always kept to hand a thesaurus, a dictionary, a rhyming dictionary, and at least three foreign language dictionaries when I write. But, having worked in print publication and advertising as a graphic designer, I know that "less is more." I often compose something using words and language at the height of my over-educated brain in the first draft; but I always go back in the final draft to make sure it's not over "their" heads. That winnowing is often the hardest part. For example, the poem "Winter" used many classical study terms for winds and cold. When my copy editor saw it, all those terms got bracketed for me to edit. I have to admit, the final draft had much more Brrrrrrr! impact. It was over-the-top intellectual before. I took a couple of extra curricular creative writing courses in college too; and the required report writing and technical writing courses. All those teachers harped on the same thing, it was a running refrain of my college writing years: "keep it simple stupid." They actually quote that to journalism students too!
Incredible! I'm always in awe of your vocabulary and the way you use it. Your mind makes associations mine doesn't, but somehow they always fit together in the end. Not only entertaining but food for thought.

the thing about this that stands out first is your uncanny ability to maintain a focus while applying all of that fuzzy ;)
even Beethoven practiced sterile sex now and then:

i read your poem .. then some other comments .. i agree with KL .. and after reading Frieda's i read it again with better understanding and more enjoyment ..
i had a friend in high school his nick name is Cloud .. yes true story .. he was a loner and a little goofy (drank robotussin to get his high) he had the greatest private collection of 45's the world has ever known .. piled in 4 ft. stacks in his room and if you asked to play a named tune he picked from the stack in 2-3 tries .. knew exactly where everything was ... i often wonder whatever happened to him
love your poem! thanks for letting us glimpse a healthy obsession of yours

Spin the black circle, how apropos, was wondering when you were going to get around to writing this tribute to your vinyl obsession with your massive collection of an extensive record collection, this is a love poem in the truest sense, anyone who lives for music will adore these words...keep whirling those black discs, they make for grand inspirational poetry. 'Organic understanding', and they don't talk back ha ha I love the musical immersion and I can dance to it too. ;) xo

Whirling, spinning and dancing, you're making me dizzy silly. ;) xo
For me, this is about doubting the veracity of one's own perceptions and memories, and acknowledging that expressing said perceptions in art is an outlet, but not necessarily, reality. Or, it could be about the weather :) Well done.
