Our respective promenades aligned
in the lime green expanse spread out
over an eavesdropping meadow
of prismatic memories
Feathers of poetic grass danced
in the splashes of kaleidoscopic dew
that coagulated to the tune
of fate's intermezzo breeze
In a bowl of cupped hands
you encased a member of the colony
of fireflies chaperoning the encounter
of marauding souls searching
for the purpose of tomorrow
A conscientious smile of magenta
preened upon your lips as I tilted
to immerse in its illumination
Suddenly I felt my weight elude me
Gravity rescinded its embedded obligation
Tomorrow's embryo untangled
the placenta fostering mortality's allotted form
Lemon yellow manifested in
my anatomic morph unbeknownst to me
until my effort to embrace you flickered on
the surface of vibrating little wings
swimming in the pillow of the redefined air
and we glowed in our first eye contact
through the synchronized suns
of our bioluminescent incarnations
See, I knew you would still be smiling and it seems also dancing.... hmmm, perhaps someone needs to "chaperone" if you are gonna do all this "fireflying"... HA!!
Enjoyed the image of these lines Steve: "Feathers of poetic grass danced
in the splashes of kaleidoscopic dew
that coagulated to the tune
of fate's intermezzo breeze" nice touch that "kaleidoscope dew"....
And I might also add, I think Frieda is smiling and firefly dancing too... There is no Dali here, just you and not surreal, but REAL!!!

She knows... She's a Jersey girl and they know everything...
When I was kid I'd try to catch them. Every now and then I'd get lucky and I'd cup it in my hands, closed but for a small opening to peek in.

I finally got around to reading this one. So neat, this bond you two have. A very fun poem too.

"Our respective promenades aligned

The aligned promenades in lime green.....speak so much about the poetic and spiritual fellowship you share with the queen of the dancing fireflies. That she illuminates the path of marauding souls searching for the purpose of tomorrows, is a given, for she holds much light in her soul and her very purpose for being could be to spread that incandescence.
"and we glowed in our first eye contact
through the synchronized suns
of our bioluminescent incarnations"
...Awesome lines to share the beauty & brilliance of the connection shared!

So glad you enjoyed this one Vidya...I put all of my poetic heart into it...thanks so much :)
The written visual depth of this poem is amazing. Loved the eloquence that came along with it as well. Great write Kubla. This is one of my favorite's from you. Adding to the library. An amazing masterpiece. :)

I have read Frieda's poem which inspired your work and you taken her words and danced with joy as you dwelt among a field of "good times" and firefly dreams. Your word are close to being somewhat magical as they draw the reader into your wellspring of thoughts which speak of that which we recall from times past, and of those moments that become as you say, "bioluminescent incantations". The images you invoke are mesmerizing and those which I become lost in........ah, such a field of enlightenment should ever be part of our landscape of dreams!! This ranks among my favorites of yours........exquisite Steve!!

You gotta watch out when those meadows eavesdrop...never know how gossipy they can be! Fate does connect the chapters of our lives, no doubt. To think of the connections as an “Intermezzo breeze” is just delicious imagery! There is a magical aspect to this poem! What will tomorrow bring? Can we capture tomorrow in our cupped hands and shelter it there? No one can say for certain. This poem painted such lovely images for me. Wonderful work. Lydi**

Sorry for the late response, you know I' m at a loss for words here Steve, this is special in so many ways, I love the whimsy of it, touches my heart and makes my poetic spirit smile....I adore the sentiment and each word but the last two lines are something else, 'bioluminescent incarnations' the sweet heat is overwhelming and now I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy inside! light me up. ;)
Love the lemon yellow in the rebirth and redefined air too, heck, i love every word of your poetic response.
Thanks heaps sweetie....you know I kid you a lot, but I adore you to the poetic core of your soul.

Glad you enjoyed this love, MWAH :) xo
Awww.. so sweet of you :) she will surely love it and dance a gypsy dance when she reads it..You've very well reciprocated her. The imagery was vivid .I wanted to be in this land of glowing fireflies and spread my tiny wings, and love to fly high... well done K.K.
