LAZY STREET CORNER'S IDEOLOGY (A FREIDA / KUBLA COLLAB)

LAZY STREET CORNER'S IDEOLOGY (A FREIDA / KUBLA COLLAB)

A Poem by kublakhan27
"

"

in the dead of winter's arctic chill

and the heat of sultry summer's night

you render me poetically impotent

flipped the switch of immortality's light

enduring blight patterns in perpetual spin

concepts on overload's redemption

deliverance from evil salvation's undertow

rescued by a vessel with unattainable oars

drowning in drifts of your sin's pollution

bitter humps in my breath keeping salvation awake

albeit in the pallid placenta

of this incessantly emotive coma

my despondency's senseless battery

I was pushed with nostrils unprepared

into currentless Styx

your aim made stiff and precise

ratifying the erect assurances of

your weather-laced conceptual divining rod

wicked abomination's extortion spat at public view

aborted on laissez-faire's lazy street corner's ideology

inculcating fear trumping Athenian philosophizer's hype

atheists ran amuck ringing toll bells of indiscretion

born again of aversion's ruptured inclinations

knelt in holy water's puddle of indistinguishable rapture

torrid lucidity's revulsion erupted in convulsions

waving uncle's white flag in dubious surrendered conquests

the season of the muse sleeps

in the numbers on a calender

slumbers conquered, heartbeat imbues

a virus on progressive impressions

sealing it in the faux closure of December's page

lathered books accrue in time's standing army

quotes pulled from their must like taffy here and there

Shakespearean production's detestable actions

genuflecting afore ice sculpture's entry passages

withering on the vine of Heathcliff's offences

plunged into icy atmosphere's unplugged desires

defenses frozen in a time before poetry rhymed

I forgive you for your sins of dropping those names

a bulb just signed away its tungsten heart

that was when it felt like the living started

I'll even in willingness send you off with a clock

You are not forgiven for the dropping of my virtues

in the river of the dead like a sacrifice

to fair weather while I grovel in Stygian propaganda

yearning secretly for the de-horizoning delta

offering a path less swam to make all the difference

Too many lines to mull over here, but I am super fond of the "pushed with nostrils unprepared into currentless Styx" -- for me it's about forgiving some things, but not the ones that left you to drown ...
P.S. the author's note is just a blank black box for me, but because of all the water references, I did think of Theory of A Deadman's latest DROWN, when I read it.

Thanks so much TL, glad you enjoyed our collab :)
I have read this a few times, on two different days. Intricate weaving of your styles and rich vocabulary; you are keeping your readers on their proverbial toes with this piece, Frieda and Steve!

Hahaha Mrs.R knows how to set the record straight, not to mention me ;P
There sure is a heck of a lot to take in there ... Made all the more of a task because we are dealing with the two of you ...

If I am to be totally honest I would have to say that it hurts my wee little brain even thinking about the musings here ... Then again I am a simple gal as we all know that needs a clear easy message ...

Can someone please send me the crib notes on this poem please so I can study it more deeply ;-)

Well done you two xx

Two dynamites combined to give this excellent piece of work which will be unrivalled in this sight for times to come.I was dragged more and more into this teasing tornado.Uncovering the exquiste metaphors and delectable phrases.. the last line stole my heart- offering a path less swam to make all difference. Reminded me of poem road not taken by robert frost...... i was drowning in this poem but it was a delightful one as i was rescued by unattainable oars.. ha ;)

This was definitely a complex entanglement of the minds, layers of descriptions and metaphors stacked one on top each other, it became almost overwhelming, almost like drowning, which considering all the references to water, and the river Styx seem appropriate. A nice collaboration by you two, thanks for the entertaining read.

I don't mind drowning, as long as it's in a poem, thanks Jack...
you sure pulled my mind, body and heart strings like taffy with this one.. It was like two souls dancing around the questions and taunting effects of the other one.. Such exquisite word play here that stimulates my mind, yet delicious images that stimulate... well... yea.... It is dark, and twisted, yet heated and tempting.. I sure don't think the muse was asleep on this one.. good job you two!!

Ha I just came down off the ceiling....you drag me back me back up...off I go! Thanks April! :)
This a rich & complex ideology you two have put together here. The best part about it is the layering each descriptive line adds towards the collaborative vision brought to life by two talented poets. Great work. A rare & unique read. :)
