To you Mother Courage I extend a cigarette of shy anticipation I want you to seduce me to implement your closure on the monotone Duet For One Raid my loneliness in a hotel on Naked Street Walk The Proud Land of maple leaf melancholy as you would the violated daughter of New York Confidential I'll diffuse the wind of my depression for your mourning candle and undo the changing of your name No longer need you be The Girl In Black Stockings unless of course you want to be Yes I want you to seduce me but not to bear the burden of a Miracle Worker steady as you've been on that unenviable pedestal In the dictum of my infinite malaise you define The Last Frontier Let me light your cigarette Louisa with which you would illuminate the fog of my unbridled Silent Movie
A Wonderful tribute to a talented woman..I am tickled you were able to mention her other movies, and not just Mrs. Robinson. I loved when she was able to show her humorous side. I also admire her and hubby for their long marriage, which shows me, they had their priorities in order. Great piece of work !

Todays actresses can't hold a candle to those of Anne Bancrofts era. She was an amazingly talented woman...I love all of her movies!! You do her justice Steve...and your infatuation with her in The Graduate songs loud and clear! Lol.... Amazing my friend. x

It's the reason I am not into movies...I watch one or two a year at the most. The art is acting has become secondary...it's all in the hands of rich producers now. She was an amazing actor but above all, an amazing woman who probably stretched the boundaries for female actors, fighting off a lot of unfortunate stereotypes along the way, even in spite of those unraveling stockings. But this was for two people, and you're the only person I will tell this to explicitly in a review. So glad you enjoyed it my friend...this one means a lot to me :) x
She was indeed an amazing actress, a favorite for her powerful performances. This is a great tribute piece, Steve - you have her both down to earth and on a pedestal at the same time.

From the moment I knew this piece was complete, it became one that I hold close to my heart. Thank you Rita :)
Bravo! I am in awe of the way you have woven many different facets of the life of one who so many of us may identify with - facts, memories, her movies, the lines.........just all so wonderful! I shall always consider her an extremely gifted actress who held the audience in the palm of her hand, and at the top of her stocking!
I can just see her sitting there, so calculating, so confident, serene, seductive, captivating.......all, but equally as talented in each role!!

That was my inspiration for writing a piece around as many of her famous titles as I could while still maintaining cohesion. It was a challenge, and I didn't get all of her signature roles in, but I'm so happy that the references are being recognized. Thanks so much for the kind and humbling review :)
Magically seductive....I can almost hear Mrs. Robinson asking you, “are you trying to seduce me, Steve?” :) Oh, to be able to look as sexy as Anne Bancroft dragging on a ciggy and wearing thigh high stockings and a garter belt.....your words brought every scene of every movie she was ever in...even the “Miracle Worker”...to my mind. She was such a stately sexy lady...and this tribute does her justice. You wove a web of sensual desire in this one, Steve. Lydi**

I would have loved to get a couple of the others in (Turning Point especially) but I just couldn't get it to work. She was a classy and beautiful lady for sure, and yes sexy as well ;) I'd also love to offer a response to "oh to be able to look as sexy..." but I would probably embarrass us both haha Thanks so much Lydi.
Io sono sopra la luna che si cantava questa canzone per me. ♥
So elegant Benji, I'm dancing with Mrs R & Anne, within your poetic bliss of a poem. If she could only read this she'd be as jazz'd as I am, I'm sure. What can I say, you know how I feel about Anne and her alias, you've outdone yourself with this one, brought her to new heights and made this one your own, with all the flavor and intensity that is always an element in your writing genius. If Mrs R blushed, she surely would after this read....Magnifico!
What a sweet and tender serenade, needless to say, I'm in love with this one. Light one for me too Benji. Sigh..........xo

Obviously this is a personal piece, and one that will be held close to the chest, and it brings a huge smile to my face knowing that it has had the same effect on you. I'm truly moved by the notion that she would be as jazzed by my humble tribute as you. Consider one lit Mrs.R :) xo
From this work of yours my friend I have no shame to say, it help me to understand your taste and class. The tribute was definination of elegance in words to movies and classic ladies. The soundtrack you set was a trip to heaven...what a experience you provided your readers, want to pay my gratitude just in one simple word...epic!
