A rant, cuz I can't sleep, so nothing to write home about poetically, and I'll probably be embarrassed by it in the morning...but I write, therefore I post...03 08 14
Why bother when the page
won't tattoo itself?
The only interest
I am likely to generate
in you is in your mind
as you ponder how much
labour I'm worth
in proportion to
the rusted parts
I'm bringing to
your service center
The only reason
I'm even this
close to you
Bodily interest
in your vicinity
would come from me
slapping my own face
Very relatable for many of us writers here. I can sincerely picture myself in those silent nights sitting in solitary pondering about what to write, as there is nothing else to engage in. Frustration easily manifests itself as all words seem lost, and as my first drafts are always contrived with ink, I tend to flood the floor with paper giving that only one out of a couple dozen ideas gets a ‘consider’. I’m pleased this is not the everyday case. Anyways this was a great read overall – very profound. Great conclusion…
As always thanks for sharing!

Shall I pass the salt too?
And the tequila?
Some lemon...
Then we'd really get the creative juices flowing.

Let's hope not because the day you run out of words is the day the earth runs out of air
Though I believe there is more meaning to this than a sleepless night. I really enjoyed this today.

Now how did I know that, oh yeah, I've spent many nights very similar. Chin up sir.

"Why bother?"
If only I knew.
Thank goodness it is all digital today, or I would suffocate in this pool of ink needing words to find expression.
Rant away Khan! Do not go quietly into the inky abyss...

Funny thing too, I still write every single word on paper, and as I've told friends in the past (and it's the truth), I can stare at a blank page for hours, literally, so maybe that's my equivalent of suffocation haha...it's virtually impossible for me to write on a monitor though...I must be really old-school :)
I'm definitely feeling this piece right now, along with a dozen other things.
Pretty well written my friend. That third stanza...yea. Perhaps I should slap my own face. People are always morbidly interested in violence and tragedy.

As predicted in the status note, I was embarrassed by this when I looked at it the next morning, but I don't feel ready to let it go yet...I feel like there is more to give to this one...I can assure you that the self-inflicted slap is there to stay though haha
Ha I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry with you Benji. Slapping yourself over spilt ink is hardly worth the smarts...you keep repeating that vehemently with your inky spilled pen, then you land in another sweetly saturated self-flagellating ditty that is brilliantly written, what is Mrs R gonna do with you? Amen, now you're really starting to sound like Leo. ;-) xo

we can never really know for sure how our words might touch another.. in the cold dark light of night.. it is why we are admonished not to judge ourselves... I liked this very much.. it is good to know I am not the only one..

Thanks very much olla, I'm glad you could relate to this piece.
wow, how often i feel like this...slapping my own self in the face because my ideas won't go down on paper, or i think they suck...and sometimes those late night jaunts into poems...really feel like nothing more than spilled ink..
but believe me Steve...you have the talent to make something out of nothing...something that is always worth reading...especially the rants about writing and feeling stuck.

a collection of depression and angst...don't know whether that is good or bad.
It's always good to read what one thinks to put from pen to paper when the mind won't be quiet enough to allow one to sleep. In this case, it is unfortunate you are unable to rest, but good for the reader as we share the spilled ink. Don't be embarrassed by it as all art is an expression of the soul!
