I put this together in ten minutes. I don't like posting things I put together in ten minutes, but you know how it is as a writer...there are some things that just have to be said.
Props go out to Frieda for a subtle suggestion that made me like the poem more than I initially did ;) Mind you, "like" is a relative word there...

Deep sigh here, although I"ve read it already, it's still affecting, not to mention your genius in slapping it together, but the effect from the standpoint of grief. We share this similar pain, and I found the title to make sense in some strange comforting way, 'logic' is there any when it comes to this pain and suffering, only within the rituals and sacrifices we make getting to the point to make it possible to get to that next day, sometimes that next minute in time. You know I 'felt' this one my dear friend. xo

The title was the first one that sprang to mind when I started thinking about it, and I do think it's sympathetic to the way you've described it. In times like these, we have no choice but to put all our eggs into the basket of tomorrow, and just hope it brings better tidings. I'm sorry you had to relate to this piece naturally, but I'm satisfied in knowing you felt it, as it was really for you to begin with. Thank you Frieda...xo

We have to let that fire burn to purge away the chaff and carry on! We can't burn it at both ends and expect to receive the grace of rebirth and hope in that which is good! Where do we want to leave our brand? We must determine where we are headed when the walk the long road of experience!! The phoenix rises - but where we want it?
Only ten minutes to put your words into form........terrific!!

Sage words here about allowing oneself to feel the pain on the road to healing. The alliteration throughout the write helped the words flow. There is a soft spirituality about your words that was lovely. Lydi**

So glad you felt all of the varying emotions that comprised that piece, thank you Lydia :)
Sometimes the very best poems flow quickly - the words are not forced - they just "are"...as with this piece. You have shared some wise words here regarding pain and grief as well as healing. Insightful and intelligently written, I enjoyed this one very much my friend.

Mr. K. -- very thought provoking write penned here...ten minutes or not,
Loved the imagery and flow your pen blazed upon this write, truly stunning work
Inspiring message you conveyed in this write, for without the hardships, the
Consequences of the choices we make regarding our decisions in life, etc...
They'd be no lessons learned that we all need to be taught.
We should rejoice in learning those lessons (try to never to repeat them) as
Well as celebrating, never taking for granted the good we have in our lives,
Or the memories.
Incredible poem, thanks for sharing :)

I guess that's a sign that I still haven't figured out who I truly am, even after fifteen-plus years of writing from every possible angle I can conjure. Write on and enjoy your muse as well Barrie :)

ten minutes often does a poem well...when they pour out like that, there is a naturalness to the content and flow...nothing that feels awkwardly forced...
this is a good offering, an oblation that makes us think about the good and the bad and the reason to believe both need to exist.
love this song also...
well all of credence.

Glad you enjoyed the poem and song, thank you Jacob.
That's completely wonderful. What are you talking about, just 'like' no one could do less than love the words you have blended so wonderfully together. Of course meaning is significant, but that's only part of the aspect. Bringing together the flow and mix of words within those meanings can be a complex task. Props to you friend! :)

A lot of the poetry I like doesn't have any outright or obvious meaning, at least not to me, but it sounds good phonetically. You can see that in my writing too...you only need to read a few pieces to see that I'm a stickler for flow and rhythm haha Glad you enjoyed it my friend :)
A baptism of fire will lead to both burns and grace - a candle gives light and warmth, but wears itself out in doing so... your title itself leads to so many thoughts...
There's something to that idea of oblation to our hardships. Like whistling past the graveyard, don't deny that adversity exists, but shine a light to chase the dark...
I like this one, K - there is strength in your words...

A very profound piece, my friend. Many times the words simply flow & we must put them to paper. And, many times, putting those words to paper is cathartic in its own way & aids us through the healing process. There's much to be learned from something so small as a candle. Very well done here:)

Sometimes a poem just writes itself...it's a rare occurrence for me (hence the note in the comments) but the situation kind of demanded it. Candles are a symbolic thing for me on many levels, some of which I've touched on here. The healing process is long but one has to start somewhere. Thank you Rebecca :)
It doesn't matter how long a poem takes. It only matters that you are able to touch someone with your words. The title of this piece is fantastic. We have to let the hard stuff go. We have to let the pain go. Give it up, pour it out. The candles know it, don't they? Angi~
