Wow, this really has a nice flow and wise words. I love it :)
The ending was amazing too, I really enjoyed this. My favorite line was " the main street sidewalk, a spirit parade ,infinite" the best line ever :D

You paint a picture in this one K… as I read, it comes to life, as a town that sustains itself on tourism.. I love the talk of a "spirit parade".. with the title I was expecting a spooky write..but was pleasantly surprised to see it was in reference to the ever changing faces, which includes the shop workers..

Haha well this is an oldie now but I have been trying to get back to this style...it's a bit more universal and not so self-indulgent ;P

The four months I spent in this town were the best four months of my life (Banff, Alberta, which is smack dab in the middle of the Rockies so it's completely surrounded by huge mountains...unbelievable scenery) though I know what you mean about tourists being weird lol This is actually a milestone piece...it's the first one I actually showed off to others after keeping it all to myself for a couple of years...the response I got gave me an inkling that I might be on to something ;) Anyways that includes my memoir for today...glad you like it :)

Hahaha never self indulgent, just far more intelligent than the rest of us is all. :p

I've never been to Canada at all... nature and cold don't really agree with me lol. But I've seen pictures and it is gorgeous. :D

Haha Well I read a lot but I wouldn't equate that with intelligence :P Actually not all of Canada is cold though a good bit of it is at different points of the year...the west is the worst though and I'm really glad I'm not there lol There is all kinds of different scenery though :D

Then I saw it was "published" (congratulations by the way) and then reread it - and it hit me. Or at least something whacked me and said, inside my head, "Perhaps he means it literally you numbskull. It (the way to work) melts into a smokey, sooty, drippy mess; like waxy puddles. A candle of humanity, of civilization rendering its token flame in the name of the movement dujour." "Oh. OK!", I sez to myself. Not bad. Not bad at all. :o)

I can imagine. You're from Canada, right? Your country is swarmed by thousands of people, even millions (who knows?) from all over the world. Especially Asians (lol, i'm gonna get there someday adding the population). My relatives and some of my friends are even there and more to come:) This piece tells a geologic phenomena of an entire state. Published. Wow, what can I say?

I am indeed from Canada and there are about 30 million people here last I heard...it is definitely a melting pot as we seem to have sizable pockets of every nationality scattered throughout the country (including a number of Asian localities ;)) Maybe we'll make it to each other's homeland sometime lol

This is written in a tourist town where I was working for the summer...you rarely saw the same faces twice lol I never considered this one to be a strong candidate for publication but you never know when you've got a hit I guess lol

Montreal? One of my closest friends lives there :) For the life of me I cannot write pieces this short unless they the whole thing comes at once...I think I did this one in ten minutes, when it usually takes me that long to settle on an adjective :P

Yep, Montreal. It's not so hard get to CA compared to Europe or the US of A. I mean the application for the US is more complicated. Idk why.

Haha yeah it's always been easier to get into Canada than most other places...it's part of our identity I suppose :P I'm certainly a perfectionist haha Of course I've often fallen into the trap of over-thinking things sometimes, not just with regards to writing but everything...it's one of those issues I've had to tend to in recent years...I guess it was worth it in this case though :)

Thanks very much, I really had to live this one before I could write it lol Do you mean the numbers below the title? They're dates: the dates on which I finished the first version and this one. I do have an obsession of sorts with numerology though so I tend to date everything and see if I find any patterns...and I have found some things in the past lol

Oh I didn't realize they were dates I just kept looking at them trying to figure them out so I used Supreme Mathematics to come up with my line. Numerology is an interesting subject, I know a little bit about it but nothing too deep. Maybe you could write a poem about it, just an idea.

Truth be told, I do present them that way as a means of adding a touch of mystery to whatever I write lol I would indeed like to write something about it in the future, but it has to be one of those things that writes itself^^
