The StagA Poem by Kylei wrote this for an english project last year. it needed to be about nature and life. it also had to include different types of poetic usage, including metaphor, personification and alliteration. The Stag The Southern wind glides past the emerald grass as the stag stands still, tall and proud The flowers below his hooves imitate the wind’s cool breeze, dipping forward as if to bow before their master The foliage endlessly encompassing the land are his palace walls, in which he commands all, His antlers are a crown of trees, attesting to his title as king of the forest The oak branches sway to and fro, like graceful dancers before him While he laps the water of the serpentine river spiraling into the depths of the dark forest. Suddenly, he lifts his head high, as the sun rises towards the racing wind The stag’s eyes begin to burn with enlightenment as the two souls meet together Their energy creates a perfect harmony bound to the land below. The king charges off with an air of dignity, Visions of bright crimson and gold reign over his mind The sun soon sets on his domain And the wind dies down to nothing more than a lost echo, In a land slowly flooded by darkness.
