Lonely Marine

Lonely Marine

A Poem by Kare Bear
"

I wrote this from a list of 6 words my ex, who is a marine, gave me. I have always liked this poem. This is the first time I am letting anyone else, besides him, read it.

"

As the lonely marine sits

thinking of his love back home

He remembers high school football

And how she use to cheer

So loud

Just for him

Even if he wasn't playing

Memories of paintball fights

In the woods

With his friends

This was before her met her

But he swears

He could hear her even then

Taking a sip from his flask

He flashes back

To the day

She gave him

That little red teddy bear

A tear starts to fall

As he is ripped

From his day dream

Mail call

And his name was announced

As he removes his knife

to open the letter

He realizes who it is from

"She finally wrote back!"

He says quietly

"God, I love her!"
