Memorial Day 2013A Poem by ksreetzThere is a cold silence and an empty heart in those who loved the ones who died. Their family portrait, like un-finished art, frames only a future of hopes denied. It was a payment made for doing their part, a sense of duty that they couldn’t hide, bringing justice to who would tear us apart, now taking their rest, flag by their side. There is a cold silence and an empty heart that’s unable to hear the noise outside, where the BBQs light and gatherings start on a day to remember those who died. © 2013 ksreetz |
