Changes

A Poem by Kelly Rainwater

Was it only yesterday,
when you smiled upon me,
kissing my cheeks,
allowing your heat
to penetrate throughout
an endless night?
I awoke this morning,
finding you gone
without notice,
leaving me
cold, damp, bare.
I knew this day
would arrive,
yet I was not prepared
for it so soon.
A hot shower
warmed me,
yet it is not the same
as your heat,
lingering well into
midnight hours.
When will you, Summer,
shine on me once again?

About
Why do I write? I have no choice: it's all I know. My Mother says when I was 2 years old, I used to sob "I wish I could read!" And before I was in Kindergarten, before I could spell anything other tha.. more..
