Lost and Found

Lost and Found

A Poem by Kelly Rainwater

When you look into my eyes
and touch my face;
and our shared whispers
reveal our souls;
When a moment in time stretches
to endless hours
and we are nearing the rising dawn;
When I feel you so deeply,
your heart speaking from within mine,
feeling as though you were borne from me
or was I borne from you?
When I realize that being lost in you
means I am finally found,
and the panic begins rising
because it can't possibly be;
When I'm terrified to cross the line,
destroying the last barrier
by speaking what my heart has been screaming;
By letting go and giving in;
By trusting you, believing you;
I find myself grasping for the safety net,
Afraid of falling any faster;
Afraid of falling any deeper;
Afraid of falling any harder;
I then open my eyes
and see yours mirroring
what I cannot find the courage to say.
And your heart is open,
and your arms are open,
letting me fall,
making me safe,
keeping me with you.

About
Why do I write? I have no choice: it's all I know. My Mother says when I was 2 years old, I used to sob "I wish I could read!" And before I was in Kindergarten, before I could spell anything other tha.. more..
