Let a new way begin

The Silence feels uncertain
The emptiness a sin
The world has paused without consent
And the birds and their chatting is
incessant.

The tar is smooth and unending
The sidewalk ruled by the ignored
How unnatural it feels to behave with
Restraint
On a planet that we never loved
With the people that we never wished in
the morning
The moments we never had
The time for
And the person we chose to forget
Now screaming back at us
in this inner solitude.

When we meet our shadows
In the eclipse if ourselves
We must learn to see
We must learn to hear
We must choose to heal
As this time stands still

Let it not take another century
To stop the cycle of greed, deceit and
Unrelenting needs
To know that all we are is skin and bones
A pair of lungs and opposing thumbs
We are the one we are the same
We are fear and we are hope
Collectively alone
Let’s us sink in
Into this into ourselves
