Alone with Earth

Alone with Earth

A Poem by KirstenFurry

The leaves have gone away today
Decomposed into the cold, harsh earth
Where the grass has left me, too.

Snow has settled in today
Bitterly beautiful, blanketing the world
When the cold nips at my skin,
Wind howling, biting my ear drums
The way you used to nibble the lobe
Flakes settle on my nose, numbly
The way you used to kiss my lips, unposed

I hate it when I remember us
But I hate it when I forget
Lovely and passionate
I'd do anything
To have it back

So the wind howls,
The snow settles
The leaves die
The grass fades
And you leave.

I thought about possibly making this into a sonnet.
